Chronic Patient – Don Julian

His story will be tell by someone else, the person in charge will relate about his life, struggles, his journey to get his medical treatment, his family and every detail we can get from his story.

Video will start with an emotive close up – while we listen to an impactful quote of Don Julian
Examples:
“My health condition before having your assistance was very bad”
“I might have died a while ago, if you wouldn’t have helped me”
- (10 secs approx.)-

A quote/phrase that will engage our audience in the first ten seconds of the video.

The storytelling starts:

-Julian is a 77 years old man who lives at La Concepcion, located about an hour from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. He suffers from epilepsy since 2015 and before our clinic assistance, he struggled finding a way to get his disease properly treated. The lack of medical assistance in communities like La Concepcion in Nicaragua, is very real, and for a long time, Julian had to go through that on his own. - (40 secs approx.)-

While the storytelling advances, takes of Julian around his little house will appear. Deep takes, just him and his loneliness where he lives. Showing the roads, surroundings, possible walking difficulties (because of his age), doing some tasks at his place.

-Julian grew up in La Concepcion and started to work since he was very little, prioritizing work before education, because of this, he never learned how to read and write, because of this, and their desire to hear the word of God, our team provided a device that plays the Bible audibly. Julian attends the clinic every time he wants to hear God's word. A big part of his life, he dedicated it to coffee picking, street vendor and charcoal vendor, got married and had 5 children, but now, he lives on his own and sometimes, getting some food can become a real quest. Considering that Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America, the lack of supplies to eat is a daily issue that thousands of Nicaraguans face every day. - (40 secs approx.)-

Mix of takes showing the poverty he lives at. Possibly has a dog and can be included on the takes, possibly some chickens as well. Some far takes of his little house that transmit some isolation conditions he lives.

For Julian, the clinic is very important, as it is the place where he can obtain, on a monthly basis, the medicine he needs to control his disease. Attending the clinic also means receiving a humane treatment from our team, for which Julian feels very good and grateful, and trusts that God will reward the medical team that cares for him.

Half close up takes, showing him out of his house with a deep look. This can be mixed with him being recorded responding the question. Some takes of him being assisted by Dr G. or Neydi at his place, before he departs to go to the clinic.

-On 2015 our clinic learned about Julian’s story and how difficult it was for him to get a medical treatment for his disease. –Neydi’s/Rebeca Intervention: “We found him laying on a bed, he couldn’t hold on his feet”—His health condition was not doing good when Julian was initially reached by the clinic. Since then, lots of prayers for healing and a constant medical follow up has allowed him to improve his life quality. Now that his health has improved, he can visit the clinic himself to get his medical treatment every month. His poverty is not an obstacle for Julian to get his medicine, he uses his little strength to walk to the clinic back and forth because he can’t pay for his transportation. -(50 secs approx.)-

Takes of Julian laying on his bed being cared by Dr. G and Neydi (acting it), also starting his journey to get to the clinic now that he can walk after the clinic provided with medication to improve his life quality. Mix of takes of him being cared and walking on the road, getting into the clinic, receiving his treatment, being checked by Dr. G at the clinic.

-Julian receives a monthly doses of phenytoin to control his epilepsy, this medicine helps him to decrease the probabilities of having epilepsy crisis. Just like Julian, 70  other people receive medicine every month to treat diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, varicose ulcers, chronic renal insufficiency, gastritis, asthma and arthritis, along with that, Julian has received a strong message of Eternal Life, the Life that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide. Medical Treatment and a message of Hope are delivered every time a patient visits our clinic.
-Julian closes the video with a quote similar to: “I hope the clinic can continue helping me” -(40 secs approx.)-

A mix of lots of takes, ending takes to fill out the ending of the storytelling. Including Julian’s eyes close up and him saying the last phrase of the video.
